Today we were asked on our Facebook wall to recommend a few cookery courses in the Essex area. As ever, we’re more than happy to oblige!

1. The Smart School of Cookery
Based in the village of Danbury, Essex, The Smart School has a selection of 2 for 1 offers available like this Evening Class or the slightly more expensive half-day. Each experience allows a choice of different cuisines and cookery styles, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Top stuff!

2. L’Atelier des Chefs
Based right slap-bang in the middle of Central London, L’Atelier des Chefs is within easy reach from the Essex countryside. This All About Cooking Masterclass is a full-on 2 hour experience letting you get to grips with your choice of cuisine. You could learn how to make fresh pasta or make a meal out of macaroons!
Alternatively, and slightly cheaper, is the Cook and Dine cooking lesson. This is a 90 minute evening lesson where you also get to sit down and enjoy the food you’ve just made!
3. Chocolate Making Workshops
For a different type of cooking altogether, we have a whole category devoted to chocolate making (steady… steady…). Working with some of the top chocolate-y names like Green and Black’s you’ve got a choice of venues (again, mostly based in London unfortunately – but definitely worth a little jaunt) and choice of specialities. Curious about cupcakes? You’re covered! Want to try some truffles? We can do that too
4. Sushi Making with Yo! Sushi
Finally, and also in Central London, is this Sushi Making course from the masters of raw fish & rice, Yo! Sushi! It’s a hands-on class run at weekends for people new to the art of Sushi making. Great if you’re the more adventurous type! Plus you get to take away a bento box, sushi rolling mat, and all the sushi you’ve prepared.
